E&L Spicy Beef Bulalo

Loved by everyone, beef bulalo is such a Filipino classic! Here’s a recipe that can even level up your dining experience – spicy beef bulalo!

What you’ll need:

1 kilogram E&L Beef Shanks

1 medium red onion

2 tablespoons whole black peppercorns

2 ears corn, cut into 3

2 pieces siling haba

1 tablespoon patis

1 small head cabbage, quartered

1 bundle bokchoy

2 tablespoons green onions, chopped

water, as needed

Cooking Instructions

Step 1:           In a deep pot over medium heat, boil 1 liter (4 cups) water. Add the beef shank, onions, and whole peppercorns. Simmer for about 3 hours or until meat is fork tender. Replenish with more water as needed to prevent it from drying out. 

Step 2:           Add the corn, and simmer for another 10 to 15 minutes. Add siling haba and crush them in the soup to add            spice. 

Step 3:           Add fish sauce, cabbage, bokchoy, and green onions. Serve piping hot.
